Whipcrack, the ear’s glimpse

Is the smudge it leaves

Hunting the winged mote of death into the sun’s retina

Picking the nymph of life

Off the mirror of the lake of atoms

Till the Swift

Who falls out of the blindness, swims up

From the molten, rejoins itself

Shadow to shadow – resumes proof, nests

Papery ashes

Of the uncontainable burning.
